The Ravi Urban Development Authority or RUDA is an organization that was set up in August 2020 by the Government of Punjab.RUDA is in charge of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project. This project is about creating the world’s riverfront city.
The project covers over 100,000 acres along a 46-kilometer stretch of the Ravi River.The goal is to solve some problems in Lahore like the city growing too fast not having enough water and flooding.The project also aims to build a city that can take care of itself and has all the facilities.The Ravi Urban Development Authority is working hard to make this happen.The Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project is a deal for Lahore and RUDA is leading it.
1. Core Objectives & Vision:

River Channelization & Flood Management:
The initiative aims to turn the Ravi River into a freshwater ecosystem that is one kilometer wide.RUDA is building 20-foot- levees on both sides of the river to protect against floods.These levees are 46 kilometers long. Water Conservation:
Constructing three dams to hold 271 billion liters of water.This will help stabilize the falling groundwater level in Lahore.It will also provide drinking water to the people living there.
Environmental Rehabilitation:
To solve Lahore’s air problem a lot of space is being used for parks and green areas.
* Seventy percent of the project area will have spaces.
These green spaces will include a forest, in the citywater systems that clean the water like nature does and a plan to plant trees on 150 acres.The goal is to make Lahore’s air cleaner.
Waste Management Conversion:
The main things they want to do include changing the Mehmood Booti dumpsite into a solar park. This solar park will make 5 MW of electricity. It will also be the project in Pakistan where they try out a carbon market. The Mehmood Booti dumpsite is really old. They want to make it into something new and useful like a solar park. This solar park project is a thing for Pakistan and the Mehmood Booti dumpsite.

Chahar Bagh (Phase 1)
